So good, we extended….
What made the hotel so amazing were the hotel staff. Every one of them were so amazing with the kids, always remembering their names and always with a smile. My son Griff probably knew them all within a few days of being there.
We’d initially booked for one week, but we extended the stay as we were having a great time.
We had the premium package, and I think the breakfast alone was worth the upgrade.
We will definitely be back again. Christian, Lisa, Poppy, Griff and Seth.

Not a 5 star hotel
Hotel:
Misrepresented - the picture you see on the listings on Tui / Jet2 is actually a photo of the restraurant. The actual hotel is very underwhelming.
Location:
Really isolated. You can get the land train to the old town but it’s really touristy, full of British bars and souvenir shops. Nowhere else to eat or walk around outside and the pavement ends at the end of the hotel when it becomes literal road.
Food:
Small selection and just weird combinations of food, but breakfast was good.
Drinks:
Cocktails menu was basic - sex on the beach and tequila sunrise. I was pregnant and the only option for me was Coke or orange juice so I stuck to water.
Rooms:
We paid extra for an upgrade and we were placed at the back of the resort which looked quite rundown. We had upgraded for extra space but were shocked at how small the room was: hardly any storage beyond one clothes rail and some shelves for all of our clothes so ended up living out of suitcases under the bed.
Pools:
Absolutely freezing, Baltic. My 2 year old refused to get in. Apparently an issue with the heating in the kids pool but it was unusable.
Kids club:
Basically a prison, run by uninterested women who simply don’t want to be there. They don’t interact with the children and barely acknowledge their presence. We had to stay because our daughter was under 4 and she had no idea what we were there for. Hardly anything to do, just a yard and a room with glue sticks. We heard one child crying to her dad begging to not go back the next day.
Indoor pool ok but kids only allowed in for 1 hour of the day at a really awkward time (can’t remember when).
Entertainment:
Portugal is in the same time zone as the UK yet their kids disco didn’t start until 9pm. Lots of families hanging around from 7pm while the staff waited until 9pm to start, baffling why they didn’t start earlier with the staff being there and available? We often couldn’t keep our daughter awake long enough, so there was literally nothing for her to do.
Yoga / Pilates:
daily free yoga / stretching / Pilates, all advertised as 30 minutes long. Basically it’s 10 minutes of the exact same stretching on the edge of a hill by the restaurant. Many times nobody turned up to run the ‘class’.
Man with hawk:
For no apparent reason, there is a man with a hawk that walks around the pool. Random.
Staff:
Mostly fine, room wasn’t always cleaned and when it was it was at random hours of the day which isn’t great when you have a child who naps.
Verdict:
The only good point for me is the land train which takes you to the beach, but beyond the beach there is really nothing there at all.
This was the most disappointing and depressing holiday I’ve ever been on and I would urge anyone to go absolutely anywhere else.

Family holidays x4
Good facilities, concept different from usual with rooms divided by small buildings. 9 in total, I think.
The rooms are good, not very large and the space for clothing is very little. It can (and should) be perfectly rethought and optimized. The same goes for bathrooms. We couldn't have room to hang the 4 bath towels for example.
The hotel is outdoors, to go to the rooms and to the restaurants, we walk outdoors, which puts you in a summer destination because with rain will definitely not be anything interesting. But the concept was of our pleasure being up to a positive point.
Tough animation, not being fantastic, but fulfilling. Kids Club works well, a little bureaucratic but it works.
Another positive point was to see a support place with fruit, snacks and sandwiches near the children’s pool (there was also a support bar).
Parking on land, very weak for the hotel's expectation and name. Discovered and left to the “abandon”. Requires a deep washing of the car at the end of the holidays.
RESTAURATION:
It is a hotel clearly oriented to foreigners, there is very little variety of fruit in the meals, melon and watermelon always, and little more than that. Except for breakfast where more variety appeared. Bananas was rare, apples and pear as well. Orange (mandatory in the Algarve) also did not see much.
On the first day we were scared with the queue for dinner. Staff are not minimally prepared or trained for these functions.
There are exceptions, breakfast Rodrigo sees that he fights against the tide and wants a service of excellence. I presented this one day at breakfast. There was another gentleman who served drinks mostly with an above-average service and another couple of good ones. The rest needs support, training and wanting to do better.
The restaurants on reservation, are interesting, compensates above all to avoid confusion of the buffet. It was easy to mark these restaurants.
At lunch at the pools, we have access to an outdoor barbecue, with a very competent manager (I think it was Indian), but the variety is always the same. There is also a support table with salads and cold foods at the Salty, near the place to order the drinks, but could greatly improve the offer with mixed toasts and typical lunch sandwiches, among others. The bar down here only serves drinks, there are no snacks... could there be ??
There is always the possibility of the buffet, up here, for those who want to get out of the pools (the will was never very confessed).
The “exclusive” option of access to a more private area at breakfast. I did not value at first but then changed my mind and I think it makes sense, in addition to other rewards that the “exclusive” provides.
The quality of the products always seemed very good to me! Anywhere. There is only need to improve the detail and care with the cleaning and arrangement of the buffet to be excellent (many food turned out, out of places, etc.).
POOLS:
Very interesting concept of several pools for people to go to various locations. There is an exclusive place for adults that seems to me to be excellent (I went with children and therefore could not try), with a quiet above average.
For the first time, I saw a hotel comply with what it advertised. The reservation of loungers is not allowed and after some time without occupation, the towels and belongings of people are removed. Very well! Finally someone with the courage for this. There were clearly (many) abuses and thus people respect more and are respected.
Access to the beach can be done by train or on foot. It does very well on foot, even with children (7 years old). The route is accessible and fast. Good beach, although the water was cold.
SUMMARY:
It is not a hotel with quality Tivoli, in terms of service (at least we had other expectations). It's very targeted at foreigners, at least I had that perception.
The price is too high for what it offers. For example, parking has to be reviewed.
However, with great potential and possibility of improvement to be a reference to all levels.
I repeated the place without any reservations, but maybe I would think about upgrading to “exclusive” for the additional facilities I noticed I had (parking at the hotel door is another of the advantages). The excessively high price for what it offers, although it is an attempt to filter, is a factor to consider because there are better offers nearby with more inviting prices.

Great choice for business and family
The place where it is located is very good to get to know, where it has great restaurants and amazing places to visit.
