A lovely place to stay
Overall we had a very good experience at Gallicantu. The resort is beautiful and very well taken care of. The staff was friendly and serviceminded. Our room was nice and calm and we slept well the four nights we stayed. Breakfast was very good with a small but well chosen selection of local products. Fresh juice, good coffee and egg dishes made to order. And lovely homebaked pastrys. Something to look forward to every morning. Only drawback in our opinion was dinner and aperitivos. For the price you pay we found it way too overpriced. We had our most expensive aperitivo in Sardinia here and we didnt even have anything to go with it. Everywhere else you get some nuts, chips or cold cuts but not here paying twice as much. Also dinner was very simple and not too advanced. Paying premium price you expect a more. They have a very nice winelist with local wines but also at a premium price. We would have appreciated the apportunity to eat at Gallicantu but instead we found ourselves going into Luogosanto for dinner and drinks. Besides this, Gallicantu is a really wonderful place to visit.

We remind you that we do offer breakfast included in the room price, light lunch and aperitif with à la carte menu and dinner with three-courses tasting menu at the fixed price of €60.
Also, we inform you that we generally do offer drinks with complimentary olives and high quality snacks and we are extremely sorry if this wasn't your case.

Vision, passion, sacrifice and refinement come together to give a unique result. Gallicantu is a lovely place in the heart of Gallura and showcases its best side. A place full of personality and energy. The two hours spent with friends for the aperitif were accompanied by spontaneous and impeccable service, top quality food presented beautifully and a tasty, fresh and genuine cocktail.

A disappointment from start to finish
We were especially looking forward to this hotel where we wanted to spend the last two nights of our tour of Sardinia. The ratings with 5 stars raised the anticipation. I always check as many reviews as possible before booking a hotel. At this hotel, two bad reviews were mentioned in the statistics, but when clicked they did not appear. At best, can hotels have bad reviews removed? In the future, I will certainly pay better attention to it.
Unfortunately, we can't report many positive things. The hotel is very nicely laid out. It does look a little nicer on social media and doesn’t quite correspond to reality, but we liked it at first glance.
We got a nice welcome. We were especially looking forward to the room we booked more than half a year ago. Each room is different and has different Unpacked. The room MINUREDDA we had deliberately chosen. It was simple and had a terrace. We value having a terrace when we are in the hotel. The receptionist was especially pleased to be able to offer us an upgrade. I support because we just wanted the room we had chosen, but let us show the room anyway. It was a room with no balcony and no terrace, with a window. This is supposed to be an upgrade, because the other rooms have rather few and small windows. But we didn't want to stay there. The room MINUREDDA was of course occupied... we suspect times by guests who also wanted a terrace rather than just a window. We don't know. We got a suite and it was pointed out that this is otherwise twice as expensive as the room we actually wanted. I think that should impress us, but we felt lost in this huge room. In addition, we heard on our terrace the main road, which is not far away. As a highlight, the guests had probably left cigarettes in the ashtray before. At this price for such a hotel a no-go! The first impression was gone. We tried to make the most of it, but didn't make it, because there were even more surprises waiting for us:
There are cats all over the grounds, not two, three. There are at least eight, including kittens. Cute, yeah. Then when we saw cats drinking from ice containers standing by the outdoor bar, we felt like ordering a drink there. And at breakfast, the bread got stuck in my throat when I saw cats running around on the chairs and tables and eating from the plates of the guests (see photo). That's not okay. And instead of doing something about it, we found that the hotel staff also receives and pets the cats in the reception area. This is another no-go for a hotel of this category!
Next to our suite was another suite. When someone coughed that night, it sounded like the person was standing in our room. The rooms are very noisy.
We had booked a boat tour for the day after our arrival, which lasted all day and were therefore a bit sad that we did not have the opportunity to benefit somewhat from the beautiful hotel complex because we had to leave the following day. We asked if it would be possible to spend our day of departure at the hotel, as our ferry to Livorno did not leave Olbia until 10pm in the evening. It was then said that it is not a problem, but we should pay EUR 25.- each for it. We thought that was strange. At the prices also to charge an extra fee, but we agreed and looked forward to relaxing before we start our return journey. Nothing came of it. During our boat door we got a WhatsApp message saying that she probably misunderstood us and she said that we wanted to spend the day at the facility «today», which made no sense at all. It was then said that unfortunately we can not stay after all, as the next day a wedding takes place at the hotel and we should please leave the facility by 11 am. But the lady was nice enough to give us some beaches that we could visit and that are equipped with a shower so we can freshen up. So we had to reschedule.
Breakfast was quite ok, but, as in many other places in Sardinia, the base was also missing: fresh bread! If you like it exotic (my husband was quite satisfied), this is the place. I would have just loved to have fresh bread, a normal cheese and cold cuts and jam.
An important piece of information for people looking for the absolute peace and quiet that is advertised on the hotel website: The complex is very close to the main road.
We hope that this review will make a difference and that this beautiful place might become what you expect when you book a room here in a few years.

However, we are sorry to learn that your stay was disappointing “from start to finish”. Gallicantu is a boutique hotel surrounded by nature and we always strive to make guests feel comfortable, happy and welcomed.
Below are our notes in response to the points you raised:
1) We are happy to inform you that we don’t need to have negative reviews removed, as our consistently high ratings across all digital platforms speak for themselves.
2) We are sorry to hear that the remarkable upgrade from the MINUREDDA classic room to the IGNA deluxe suite (as many as FOUR room types in between) didn’t meet your expectations or needs.
With only 9 rooms and suites, we are usually unable to do upgrades due to being pretty always fully booked. However, whenever possible, it is a pleasure to grant one and make our guests feel extra special.
First, we upgraded you to the CORSICA superior room with its amazing views, but you said it wasn’t suitable for you because of the lack of a terrace. Realizing how that mattered to you, the reception manager immediately came up with an additional upgrade to the IGNA deluxe suite, the largest room in the entire facility and the only one spread over two floors, each with its own bedroom and bathroom.
Here, sheltered from the sun and wind, the much-desired terrace you had asked for: a furnished veranda overlooks what was once the vineyard of the old stazzo. All this in addition to a range of more exquisitely “wellness” benefits and services, including a yoga mat, gym equipment and free access to the spa.
As a result, you seemed quite satisfied and happy from this extremely generous treatment. However, your later complaint about noise suggests otherwise. On this regard we would like to point out again that the whole facility of Gallicantu is set in the midst of nature, making it unlikely that road noise would be an issue. In fact the nearest one, a low-traffic provincial route, is located over 150 meters (500 ft) away.
3) With regards to your late check-out request, we again apologize for not being able to accommodate it. As extensively explained, the entire property was reserved in exclusive use for a wedding on the day of your departure, which made it impossible to extend your stay.
This was reported to you during your property tour; however, upon checking your reservation, our front-office manager noticed the event and immediately made you aware of it so that you could adjust your plans accordingly.
Please note that late check-outs are only available for use of the property (pool/garden areas) but not for extending the stay in the room. Guests must leave their accommodation by 11am so our housekeeping team has enough time to clean before the following check-in at 3pm. However, for a €25-fee per person, you can stay and enjoy the pool, garden and honesty bar (with complimentary coffee, water and ice cream), including fresh towels, umbrellas and sun loungers.
4) Concerning the cats, we’re sorry that their presence bothered you. Our team noticed your discomfort around them and figured you might be allergic. We tried our best to keep them away. Ninni and Musmè are our mascots, beloved by many of our guests. While we ensure they don’t enter indoor dining areas during meals, it’s possible someone left a door open, allowing them inside after breakfast, as shown in your photo. Reporting this directly to us in the moment would have helped us address the issue.
5) Lastly, regarding breakfast, we’d like to reiterate that we offer homemade cookies, cakes and fresh sourdough bread each morning. Additionally, there are different yoghurts, two types of local cheeses (soft cheese and Sardinian pecorino), prosciutto, honey and jams available at the buffet from 8 through 10am. The only reason you may not have seen these products would be if you arrived late, after the buffet was dismantled. Even in such cases, our breakfast team is always ready to accommodate guests’ needs and maintain our high standards of hospitality.
We hope our comments have helped clarify the situation and better convey the authentic DNA of Gallicantu, your “home away from home"!

Stunning property with so much heart and soul. Relaxing and tranquil retreat. Beautiful design. You’ll love having an aperitivo under the stately oak trees, having breakfast/dinner with a panoramic view over the valley, relaxing in a hammock with a book, etc. Lots of great activities (hikes, historic sites, cute villages) in the nearby area, and that’s before you even get to the justifiably famous coastline and Maddalena islands (only 30 minutes to coast). Stay for a few days to properly enjoy. It’s not exactly a resort—for example, dinner was a hearty, simple and tasty no choice menu which suited us well. Breakfast was delightful- the best tarts/cakes we had in Sardinia!

Beautiful converted farm
Beautiful place, good food and wine. Helpful staff. Stayed over a weekend for a friend’s birthday celebration. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Lovely pool area with sensitive landscaping of entire property. Strongly recommended.
