Golden stay
We had some misunderstanding at first, we were there in a extremely busy time, but at the end we had a good stay in Varanasi.
We booked a family room with 2 beds and 2 bathrooms and balconies, kitchen and living room, it was perfect, quite clean, bright and big enough.
Food was very good even if there is a little bit of extra wait.
Staff helped us with booking tours and taxis and also giving advice on the city.
We met the owner with was very apprehensive and kind.
We might come back

Bad experience
After seeing all good reviews I stayed on 21st Nov with my family just for one night .
Only good part staffs are very friendly & helpfull but other experience were really bad.
Though reception staff told us it's on main road but actually it's 5-7 minutes walk from main road . Very difficult to get cab as the road are narrow so hotel staff helps you to get auto or toto .
The hotel approx 7km far from Kashi Vishwanath temple. The auto will go till the point is 5 km from hotel after that 2km by walk , riksha or toto.
Room - was big but very ordinary . No window so kind of suffocating for me. No chairs to sit , one tool was there with mirror but that was also with broken leg. Small led tv maybe 21" . Really don't know if any hotel provides such a small tv now a days, atlist I haven't seen. Tea cup were so small that was looking like toy cup. The milk powder sachets they provided for tea was expired, they changed after I complaint. There was no phone inside room so mobile number was given to us incase we need anything.
Bathroom was very narrow . Wash basin was very small , no place to keep any toiletries.
As we were not part of any food plan, thought to order from ala carte menu but came to know that hotel doesn't have any restaurant. They have tie-up with restaurant which was outside. So for ala cart menu they will tell what is available, what ever you will order they will bring. There was no proper place to sit & eat . 5 to 6 plastic chairs and two plastic tables were there in the lobby area .
The most irritating part was the street dog roaming inside.

Worst experience, miscommunicated by the hotel manager
This is to inform you that I have booked the hotel from booking.com. I have booked a family room after checking all the details from the site only but after reaching the venue I was provided a single room with no basic amenities consisting of only 200 square feet roughly. The booking was done for 1400 square feet family room. When I approach the manager that I was not provided the room which I booked he informed it was the same. Then I show the pictures of the room from the site only and then he confirmed that the same room has not been provided due to some electrical issue. There are other rooms in the hotel which are empty and no guest were there. There is a window where no curtain is affixed and whole night light is coming from the same. The room is a kind of storage room. This is very pathetic experience and I think all the reviews which are there for the hotel are fake. Water dropping from the ceiling.

Horrendous worst hotel ever
This is probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. My friends booked it as a birthday treat and we stayed in the Royal family suite.
The advertisement stated the suite had cooking and clothes washing facilities. These consisted of a dirty microwave, dishes with no cutlery and as for clothes washing I presume they meant a sink and internal balcony, overlooking brickwalls which were the only views we had.
Should have realised how bad the service and attitude was going to be when our breakfast for 4,took over 2 hours to arrive and then consisted of 4 slices of toast and 2 drinks. We stayed for 2 nights and despite ordering breakfasts the night before not once did we receive a complete order.
When we were leaving the final insult came when we were told they only wanted indian guests. They made this very obvious to us throughout our stay.
The attitude of the staff was completely unfriendly and unhelpful and very discriminative.

Good value
We enjoyed our stay at the Golden Lotus. The hotel was a taxi/rickshaw ride away from the ghats however we enjoyed the journeys in and out each day. The area was quiet and safe, with the hotel next door to a shop which we didn’t use, but seemed useful. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and accommodating, arranging transport, tours when requested. The food was also amazing - we ate at the hotel twice and really enjoyed the food.
Our hotel room was nice - spacious, comfy bed and decent shower (powerful and hot). We were on the ground floor next to reception so the room could be quite noisy but this didn’t disturb us too much. Would visit again and would recommend to a friend!
