Decent hotel with basic amenities and friendly staff!
Fairly good hotel located in the quiet area of Mbabane, close by Sibebe rock, which is primarily the reason I chose this place (location and also budget).
The room and guesthouse were quite basic, but sufficient for a night's stay. For this budget, one should expect basic amenities, which is what were provided.
The room was spacious and had a functional layout. The bed wasn't the most comfortable I had ever slept in, but for one evening it was perfectly suitable. The mattress was a bit soft for my liking and the pillows weren't anything to write home about either. The one thing I did appreciate was that there was an electric heating blanket between the mattress and the sheets, which kept me cozy at night. There were extra blankets in the cabinet.
The room was furnished with a writing desk, chair, very large double door cabinet for luggage storage and a couple of hangers. The layout of the cabinet storage was a bit strange, with the shelving all the way to the back, a bit inaccessible. There were two bedside tables on either side of the bed as well. There was a flatscreen television in the room, with multiple international (English) channels available, which meant I was able to enjoy a bit of television before bed. There was also an electric kettle in the room, along with a coffee mug and a bowl. No instant coffee packets or tea bags were supplied, so I dipped into my own stash to make an early morning coffee!
The wifi was secure and password protected, and the signal was strong in the room! No complaints! There were also sufficient charging ports near the television and also nearby the bed.
The guesthouse was in need of restoration, the rooms were a bit dated, and could benefit from a refresh. They were a bit drab, but for a one night stay, it was suitable.
The bathroom was suitable, with a modern toilet (although just a tad dingy) with used toilet paper provided. There was a large sliding glass door walk in shower. The water temperature and water pressure were very inconsistent, so my shower alternated between too hot and too cold, with water pressure varying constantly. The water from sink also suffered from pressure and temperature issues. There was a small bottle of shower gel in the room, but no bar of soap curiously. Perhaps this was forgotten! I also found a small bottle of hand lotion in the cabinet over the sink, which was a bit of surprise. One bath towel was provided along with one hand towel, but both felt a bit thin and old.
The staff were really friendly and kind! They offered to prepare breakfast a bit earlier for our early morning departure (breakfast was ready for 6:30am), which was very accommodating. Breakfast consisted of two eggs, two hot dogs, two slices of toast and hot water, but no instant coffee, curiously (only tea). Luckily, I carry a stash of instant coffee packets with me, for occasions like this.
Although not excellent, I would rate this guesthouse as good for a one night's stay, provided you're just after basic amenities for a simple and budget-friendly stay.
